decorations and bombonierie
Choosing the overall "look"for your day is one of the fun parts of planning a wedding, so it's surprising how many people stress unnecessarily about this aspect.
Unless your wedding has an overall theme (maybe you’re getting married in medieval costume or have a western theme), the first step in choosing decorations is to settle on a colour scheme.
The same complementary colours usually run through the whole wedding, from dresses to table decorations and invitations to bomboniere.
Once you have your basic colours picked out to guide you in the overall “look”, the rest should fall into place easily. If you are not very good at visualising colours, then the internet is a great resource, in particular pages aimed at graphic designers and even paint companies.
A basic colour scheme can often be enhanced by the sparing use of contrasting “accent” colours.
“Simple yet elegant” should be the watchwords that guide you through the process. Too many decorating touches can make the day look fussy and over-done.
Likewise, don’t be afraid to put your own personal touches into the decorations. If you have a particular favourite colour that your friends identify you with, then don’t be afraid to use it – even if it is flaming orange!
Giving bomboniere is a traditional way of thanking your guests for helping you celebrate. Sugared almonds are the time-honoured treat but the possibilities are limited only by your imagination. Soaps, picture frames, homemade preserves and even a small plan tor seedling are all creative bomboniere options.
